Return home and go back to your trip destination with this coverage, which provides up to $2,000 towards the cost of a return ticket to continue the trip if, during the trip, an immediate family member who is not travelling with you dies or undergoes an emergency hospitalization or your principal residence in Canada, due to a natural disaster becomes uninhabitable. This plan can only be purchased with Single-Trip plans and at an additional premium.
You can purchase Emergency Medical Top-Up insurance if you have travel insurance from another insurer, but are travelling for a longer time than their insurance covers.
You could also purchase this option if you have a CoverMe Multi-Trip plan and would like to travel for longer than the maximum trip length of your Multi-Trip plan.
Top-Up Options
- Top-Up coverage must be purchased prior to departure and is subject to an extra premium charge.
- The Emergency Medical Top-Up option is used to top up a Manulife Financial Multi-Trip plan or plans of other insurers, provided that the entire trip, including the top-up period, is not longer than 183 days (212 days for residents of Ontario or Newfoundland).
- It is the responsibility of the applicant to confirm that top-up is permitted on the existing plan with no loss of coverage.
- If the applicant is age 55 or older, the Medical Questionnaire must be completed.
- Note: If a trip begins during the coverage period of your Multi-Trip plan but will extend beyond the expiry date, you can purchase top-up coverage for any travel days that fall after the expiry date or you can purchase a new CoverMe Travel Insurance Multi-Trip plan for the next 365-day period as long as the total duration of the trip does not exceed the maximum trip length you chose when you purchased the Multi-Trip plan.
